1 Arrival in Belize City. On your way to San Ignacio visit
the exciting Belize's historic wildlife habitat, known as the "Belize Zoo"
and enjoy an introduction to the country's diverse fauna. Jaguars, tapirs, toucans,
and jabirus are just a few of the exotic species that are excellent for beautiful
photographs.
Day 2
Visit Belize's second tallest structure, Xunantunich. Believed to have been an
ancient ceremonial center, Xunantunich commands an unrivaled view of the Macal
river Valley that was once a thriving Mayan metropolis. Continue with a nature
walk along the Panti Medicinal Trail and discover the plants and herbs still used
by the Belizeans for medicinal purposes. Canoe ride down to Macal River to San
Ignacio to look for parrots, toucans and iguanas in the trees alongside the river.
Day 3 Explore the Chech Chem Ha Caves where magnificent Maya pottery
is exposed the same way as it was discovered. Afternoon hike to the nearby falls.
Day 4 Early departure for one of the most interesting tours, Lamanai.
After two hours drive north from San Ignacio, you board a river boat at Tower
Hill. Along the New River leading into swamps, little creeks and lagoons, it is
easy to encounter hawks, kites, and falcons. You may spot the dainty jacanas lightly
walking on the lily pads, while the crocodiles bask in the morning sunlight. An
hour and a half on the river and then you arrive at Lamanai (Maya for submerged
crocodile). Huge masks depicting dead rulers and gods seem to materialize out
of the rain forest, amid the chatter of birds and the warning call of the howler
monkeys. Your guide will point out certain flora and fauna. Drive an hour south
to Belize City for your flight to San Pedro in Ambergris Caye. Day
5 An snorkeling adventure to a nearby Caye on Belize's Great Barrier
Reef. Enjoy the fresh breeze as it cruises to Caye Caulker. Sunbathe on deck on
your way to beautiful aquamarine waters were you make two stops for snorkeling,
one at Coral Gardens inside the barrier reef and the other at The Sand Bar which
is right on the reef. Day

bottom boat to observe the marine life on your way to the Snorkeling spot.
